Nathalie Peña-Comas


Latin Grammy - Nominee, rising star Dominican soprano Nathalie Peña-Comas was born in Santo Domingo, where she studied piano and flute at the National Conservatory of Music. Later she graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both
Voice and Piano Pedagogy. She has attended Masterclasses with Gregory Kunde, Mariella Devia, Helena Lazarska, Michael Recchiuti and Kamal Kahn. Since 2018 she’s been coached by renown Maestra Irina Gavrilovici.


Nathalie has made appearances in Austria, Belarus, Colombia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, England, France, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and the Vatican City; in venues such as prestigious Golden Hall of Musikverein and Mozart Hall Konzerthaus Vienna, MuTh-Vienna Boys Choir Concert Hall; Academic Musical Theater (Belarus) and the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore (Vatican City).


She performed several operatic roles in Europe and the Dominican Republic including Pamina (in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte), Zerlina (in Mozart’s Don Giovanni), Gretel (in Humperdinck’s Händel und Gretel), Lucia (in the tango opera Mateo by M. Palmeri), Queen of trolls (in P. M. Davis’ The two Fiddlers), Gabi (in G. Kühr’s Agleia Federweiss), Musetta (in Puccini’s La Bohème), Contessa di Almaviva (in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro), Violetta Valéry (in Verdi’s La Traviata) and Micaëla (in Bizet’s Carmen).


She has collaborated, a. o. with the Vienna Concert – Verein Orchestra, the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna, the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Târgu Mures, National Symphony Orchestra of Dominican Republic, Orchestra di Roma, the Academic Musical Theater Orchestra of Minsk and the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Belarus; with Maestros Eugene Kohn, Valery Polyansky, Ola Rudner, José Antonio Molina, Gábor Ferenç and alongside KS Ramón Vargas, Gregory Kunde, Tuomas Katajala, Morris Robinson, Andrea Bocelli, Plácido Domingo Jr., and others, performing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, R. Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder, C. Orff’s Carmina Burana and opera galas. 

In May 2023 she was guest of honor at the 64th Viennese Opera Ball in New York where she performed alongside Stephen Costello and Joyce El-khoury. 


In Italy, Nathalie won the 1st Prize at the 3rd Ebe Stignani International Opera Competition 2022 and the 2nd Prize at the 7th Montecatini International Opera Competition 2022, and has been awarded the prize to the “Classical Singer of the Year” at Soberano Awards (2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2020 - Dom. Rep.). She was also finalist at the 14th Osaka International Music Competition (2013).
