Tao Fan

Maestro Tao Fan is an internationally acclaimed and celebrated conductor from China, revered by audiences, musicians, and singers alike. He holds the prestigious title of National First Class Conductor and has been the principal conductor of the National Radio and Film Symphony Orchestra in Beijing since 1995. His career breakthrough came in 2000 when he won a special prize at the 2nd International Sibelius Conducting Competition in Finland, leading to further studies with Esa-Pekka Salonen, who praised his exceptional abilities.

Fan completed his studies at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music under Professor XiaoTong Huang and later earned his Master's degree in conducting from Florida State University under Phillip Spurgeon. He made his international debut in 2003 at Carnegie Hall in New York and has since toured extensively across the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America.

As a guest conductor, he has worked with leading orchestras in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as prestigious international ensembles such as the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Finnish National Radio Orchestra, and the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2012, he has served as the Music Director of the Beijing Accent Symphony Orchestra and, since 2014, the Shanghai Festival Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his conducting career, Tao Fan is a dedicated educator. He has been the President of the Central Conservatory Preparatory School in Beijing since 2015 and a guest professor at the ShenYang Conservatory of Music. He has recorded numerous CDs and was named "Outstanding Conductor of the Year in Asia" in 2007. His recordings and interviews are frequently broadcast on Chinese national radio and television.
