Beate Ritter

The Austrian soprano first completed a musical theater program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, which was followed by engagements at various festivals. She then pursued classical solo singing studies at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna under Kai Wessel. She made her operatic debut in January 2009 at the Theater an der Wien as Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande.

From 2010, Beate became a member of the ensemble at the Volksoper Wien, where she performed numerous roles, including Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Frasquita in Carmen, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Papagena and Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, and Walther in La Wally, among others. She also participated in guest performances with the Volksoper at Tokyo's Bunka Kaikan.

Beate's extensive guest engagements include performances as Blondchen (Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Angers-Nantes Opéra), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (Dallas Opera), Fiakermilli in Arabella (Opera Cologne), Olympia in Les Contes d’Hoffmann (Komische Oper Berlin, Opéra de Lausanne), and her signature roles as the Queen of the Night (St. Gallen, Komische Oper Berlin, Oper Leipzig, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, The Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, Teatro Regio di Torino, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden), Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (Opéra national de Lorraine Nancy, Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Stadttheater Bielefeld, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino), the title role in Lakmé (Malmö Opera, National Center for the Performing Arts Beijing), and Gilda in Rigoletto (Staatsoper Stuttgart, Volksoper Wien, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich, Nationaltheater Mannheim).

From 2018 to 2024, Beate was part of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where her repertoire included Gilda, Musetta in La Bohème, Zerbinetta, Queen of the Night, Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier, La Folie in Platée, Waldvogel in Siegfried, Sophie in Werther, and L’Ange in Saint François d’Assise.
